Context
Construction is one of the most dangerous sectors to work in. For years, the number of fatal accidents has hovered around 20. Even within the energy sector, this problem cannot be underestimated. Several occupational risks go hand in hand with working in this sector: e.g. falling from great heights, unsafe situations with cabling or the stealth of heavy, physical strain.
Output
The energy sector put the issue of "safety in the workplace" on the agenda with, among other things, the "Energy Safety Festival": two meetings. One online and one physical. I moderated the online variant and did so together with a table lady from the actual sector. In this way, we were ultimately able to reinforce form and content. We welcomed several talk show guests who underlined the importance of safety and illustrated it with concrete examples. In addition, short videos on best practices from various organisations such as BAM Infra and Tennet were shown, which we discussed at the table. As live audience questions were submitted in parallel, the whole thing became an animated and inspiring conversation. The talk show ended with a keynote by a safety psychologist who translated the latest insights from neuropsychology to workplace behaviour. The online talk show thus served as a prelude to a live conference later in the year.
