"Fantastic job! Many thanks also for your support in preparation."

Quirine Tacken, Senior Advisor Communication a.i. Tax Office

Context

One of the systems the Inland Revenue used for its supervisory task was the Fraud Signalling Facility (FSV). The FSV was a (risk) signalling system. For example, a risk could be that an application for a benefit might not be correct. This could be reason to investigate such an application. Several aspects of the use of the FSV did not comply with privacy legislation. Therefore, the FSV was turned off in early 2020 and will no longer be used. A special team then focused on following up and dealing with people who mistakenly ended up on FSV.

Output

The Inland Revenue staff who provide follow-up towards people wrongly included in the FSV were updated by two board members through an interview during a live online talk show. In it, we mainly discussed the why and the urgency of the work, but different phases of the recovery operation were also explained and there was room for live questions submitted. The online programme operationally helped the 600-plus employees to continue their often challenging work and also gave many the confidence to move forward in a good way.
