"Thank you so much for the pleasant cooperation. We are very happy that it went so well!"

Daniëlle Nicolaes, Senior Inspectorate of Education

Context: The inspectorate supervises the quality of Dutch education. In its supervision, it examines whether all pupils receive education of sufficient quality, whether schools and programmes comply with laws and regulations and whether they have their finances in order. Education boards are responsible for this, which is why supervision begins and ends with them. Every year, the inspectorate presents "The State of Education" during a live event towards anyone interested.

Output: The "State of Education 2021" could not take place in a physical event format, so I developed an online setup with the organisation. An online talk show was developed for each education system [primary, special, secondary, higher education and MBO]. In it, analysts, inspectors and board members sat down to further explain their findings. The separate broadcasts also featured vlogs and video reports from schools, pupils, students and teachers. In parallel, participants could submit live questions, which an onsite team answered directly and live. Of course, the Corona crisis was at the centre of the discussions, but also other topics such as job opportunities, opportunity inequality and supplementary education. For the individual contributors, it was a positive and instructive experience to go from regular [powerpoint] presentations in front of a live room, now telling the message in a story form online and at the talk show table.
